What to Do in Paris at Night

There is nothing quite like the dazzle and appeal of exploring the City of Lights after dark, but it can be difficult to decide exactly where to go and what to see when considering what to do in Paris at night.

We’ve compiled a list of the top things to do in Paris at night, from museum visits to nightlife to the most traditional activity of them all—climbing the Eiffel Tower.

Explore the Louvre.

The Louvre has a more romantic feel at night; there’s something wonderful about wandering about as the throng disperse and you have plenty of space to soak in the magnificent artwork where only a few hours before you would have had to battle them.

You can certainly go to the Louvre on your own at night, but remember to get your skip-the-line tickets in advance to guarantee entry.

yet visiting the Louvre at night is also quite unique.

Stroll along the Seine.

It’s likely that you’ve seen at least a few pictures of someone strolling along the Seine at night if you’ve ever watched any film about Paris. A beautiful night makes for an extremely romantic encounter.

We suggest beginning around Il de la Cite, where there will be a good number of people around (not too many, but also not completely alone), taking in the views of Notre Dame, and possibly continuing all the way down to the Louvre while crossing the Pont Neuf.

Enjoy a glass of wine in a cozy wine bar.

Especially when the weather turns cool or wet (which, let’s be honest, it often happens in Paris), these cozy, small wine bars are the ideal spot to spend an evening in Paris. Paris is full with these kind of establishments.

See a cabaret show.

Paris’ cabaret performances are legendary—just consider the Moulin Rouge’s continuing fame—and even if they are frequently viewed as a bit touristy these days, isn’t that part of the joy of visiting Paris?

Consider include a cabaret show on your list of things to do in Paris at night if you’ve always wanted to attend a Parisian cabaret act (or simply spent many hours binge-watching Moulin Rouge as a teenager)!

Admire the Eiffel Tower light show.

The already breathtaking Eiffel Tower welcomes Paris with a stunning show of lovely, glittering lights every hour on the hour after dark, adding a little extra magic to the already gorgeous Parisian cityscape.

Make sure to set aside some time during your Paris nights to take in this breathtaking light display at least a few times while you’re there!

… or head to the top of the tower.

We’ll admit that we’re not particularly excited about the prospect of climbing to the top of the Eiffel Tower (after all, what is the Paris skyline without the Eiffel Tower in it? ), but if you’ve been wanting to go to the top of the tower for a while and are wondering what to do in Paris at night, nighttime offers a unique atmosphere and is the ideal time to go.

Remember to reserve your tickets in advance because climbing the Eiffel Tower is one of the most sought-after activities in Paris and they tend to sell out quickly.
